Learning for the UBI VHF Certificate with Flashcards

I am currently preparing for the UBI (VHF Certificate for Inland Navigation) and was looking for a simple, efficient way to learn the standardized question catalogs. The official questionnaires are extensive, repetitive, and not very motivating to study in their original form. I wanted a solution that allows structured learning, repetition, and measurable progress.

After searching online, I collected the official question catalogs and converted them into CSV files. These files are formatted in a way that they can be imported directly into Anki or other flashcard-based learning tools.

The idea was simple:

• One question per card
• The correct answer on the back
• Clean formatting
• No unnecessary distractions

Why Anki Flashcards Work So Well

Anki uses a spaced repetition algorithm: easy cards appear less often, difficult cards are repeated more frequently, and you focus automatically on your weak areas. It supports efficient long-term learning, works offline and on mobile devices, and is free and open source.

How to Import the Cards into Anki

1. Download and install Anki from apps.ankiweb.net.
2. Download the desired CSV file from the repository.
3. Open Anki and click Import File.
4. Select the CSV file.
5. Map the first column to Front and the second to Back, activate HTML Detection and choose or create a deck.
6. Finish the import and start learning.
